F Natural Minor — Jacob Collier 5-String

F Natural Minor is 7 notes per octave (common family), drawn here as position boxes on the Jacob Collier 5-String's DAEAD grid with the root flagged in each — learn one box deeply, then let the overlaps carry you into the next.

The standard natural minor scale — melancholic, introspective, and deeply emotive. The most common minor sound in Western music.

Heard in: Pop, rock, classical, metal — the default minor sound of Western music.

The DAEAD tuning mirrors around its middle E string, so a box does not keep its shape as it crosses the centre the way it would on a guitar — these maps draw every position where it actually falls.

Play each box top to bottom until the roots feel like home base, then practice crossing between boxes mid-phrase — neck freedom is exactly that crossing, nothing more.
